About Gray & Galpin
Gray & Galpin Panel beaters, based in Papatoetoe, specialise in the repair of late-model motor vehicles and offers a comprehensive range of motor vehicle repair services. Established in 1960 by Cyril Gray and Kevin Galpin in Mangere, the business initially focused on repairing caravans and motor vehicles. In the late 1960s, the company relocated to Hunters Corner, Papatoetoe, where the foundation for Gray & Galpin Panel beaters was truly laid.
In 1995, the business moved to its current location at 586 Great South Road, Papatoetoe, where it continued to grow and thrive. Cyril Gray remained a constant presence in the workshop until his passing in 2002, providing guidance and inspiration even in his later years.
Gray & Galpin Panel beaters has always embraced innovation, becoming the first in the area to adopt advanced repair methods and technology, including acquiring a chassis machine in the 1960s and later adding a 3-dimensional measuring system for precision repairs.
In July 2005, Scott Burmeister took over the business. Scott had a long-standing history with Gray & Galpin, starting his apprenticeship with the company in 1989, working as a tradesman from 1992 to 1997, and returning to the company in 1999. His deep-rooted connection with the company made him the perfect successor.
Under Scott’s leadership, the business has maintained its commitment to excellence and innovation, including setting up an in-house paint refinishing shop to offer clients a complete service under one roof.
Gray & Galpin Panel beaters continues to uphold the values of quality, reliability, and forward-thinking craftsmanship. We are proud to be a member of the Collision Repair Association (CRA) and ensure our staff are trained to the highest standards, including I-Car training
